SPIRIT of Monmouth runners raced at the second Hereford and Borders Summer X-Country race hosted by Ledbury Harriers at Westons Cider in midweek.

The near five-mile race of two laps around the cider orchard saw Matthew Visser and Katie Adams again taking the title of first Spirits home in 34.26 and 35.19.

Katie was second fastest woman and fastest over-45, while other club mates running included Kirk Hill 35.47, Barry Burns 36.57, Martin Blakebrough 41.03, Mike Visser 44.12, Maixent Galliard 49.21 and Fay Visser 54.48.

The same night, Vicky Roberts and Nick Sloper ran the Night Sugar race on the Sugar Loaf, a 5.5-mile fell race with big climbs and steep downs on a cropped grass trail with some rocky parts.

They enjoyed the race with fabulous views and a chip butty social in the pub post-race, with Vicky finishing 11th fastest woman in 50.46, knocking 20 minutes off her previous course PB, while Nick finished in 61.27.

Natalie Price travelled to south Gloucestershire for the Badminton 10k on a mix of solid stone paths, woodland trails and open meadows.

Nat loved racing on the historic estate where she would normally see the horses doing the graft and also enjoyed catching up with friends from her old running club, finishing in 1.16.56.

The big 2025 Wales half marathon, part of Tenby’s long course weekend, also happened over the weekend.

A samba band serenaded the runners at the start, who headed over rolling hills through beautiful countryside to finish in the seaside town.

Marina Wright was first Spirit in 2.09.15, followed by Sian Fielding in 2.24.25.

Andrew Davies did the whole long course half distance weekend starting on Friday with a 1.2-mile sea swim in North Beach, finishing in 52.44.

He then completed the challenging but scenic 70-mile bike ride on Saturday in 7.40.57 followed by the half marathon on Sunday finishing in 2.58.32, giving him a total time of 10.39.29.
