SPIRIT of Monmouth club members were clocking up miles in Spain, France, Tunisia, Jersey and all points between last week in parkruns and training jogs.
Tom Chinnick ran 18.03 finishing third fastest in the Monmouth Chippenham parkrun, crossing behind Forest of Dean AC’s Marcus Bennetto (17.00) and George Anthony (17.54).
Club mate Rachel Waters also produced her fastest parkrun in four years at Llwybr Dyffryn Tywi (23.49), while Holly Janes-Thomas ran a 5k PB 23.57 at Berkeley Green.
Tuesday club night saw a run around the Biblins, while Thursday club night featured Trellech Trail & Treats, freshly watered by some longed-for rain.
The Trellech routes featured mud, climbing, smiles and enough elevation to remind everyone they live in the Welsh Borders.
The end of the week saw Keith Penny deliver a 16-mile hilly outing with over 2,200 feet of climbing, Looby Hearts combine a 12-mile outing with coffee and cake and Holly complete an outstanding 16.5 miles.
Parkrun Saturday also saw Robert Nelson (25.53), Andy Clifton (26.33) and Marina Wright (28.57) in action at Chippenham.
Elizabeth Hattam enjoyed a good run at Hereford (27.48), while Stephen (28.08) and Alison McMenemy (31.44) represented the club in Cumbria at Ford parkrun
Nick Sloper also tackled the hilly delights of Gnoll Country Park (24.51), while Matthew Visser topped the Spirit parkrun Tourist Leaderboard with 21.42 at Ross-on-Wye, leading a strong Visser family turnout joined by Julie, Cathrine and Susan.
With just one week remaining, the Spirit of Monmouth Parkrun League sees Nick Sloper at the top of the leader-board on 62 points, with Martin Blakebrough and Julie Gee both on 54 points, closely followed by Renske Bouwens on 52 points.
