FORTY two teams and 64 individuals took on the 59km Rogue Runs Wyedean Relay and Ultra along the river from Ross to Chepstow on Sunday, incorporating hills, mud, trails, woodland, sunshine and downpours.

Parc Bryn Bach won the relay in four hours 12.42, followed by MonRoss Trailblazers 1 (4.32.57) and Caerleon Gladiators (4.42.38).

Blazers were Calum McLeish, Tom Walmsley, Faye Johnson, Gavin Jones, Jake McBride, Elle Lumley, and Kieron Brown who won the final leg.

MonRoss 3 (Barry Davies, Martin Turner, Andrew Stephens, Richard Foster who won Leg 4, Emily Harrison, Rob Potter and Trina Sami-Brown) also took the mixed veteran title in sixth (4.55.25), with Blazers 2 11th (5.18.37).

Spirit of Monmouth had three teams organised by Vicky Roberts, with Team Spirit 12th (5.19.10), Spirit Mixers 17th (5.29.05) and Double Spirits 18th (5.29.39).

Tom Chinnick blasted round in second overall for Double Spirits on leg one from Ross Bandstand to Kerne Bridge, with Mixers’ Ben Saunders third and Team’s Katie Adams eighth.

Leg 2 to Symonds Yat saw Double’s Martin Blakebrough place 13th, Team’s James Exton 20th and Mixers’ Nick Sloper 27th.

Mixers’ Brian Evans was 15th on a muddy Leg 3 to Monmouth, with Double’s Marina Wright 23rd, and Team’s Rachel Waters 35th.

Leg 4 to Redbrook along the Offa’s Dyke Path saw Team’s Kirk Hill sixth, Double’s Lee Davies 10th and Mixers’ Andrew Hillis 34th.

Team’s Matt Visser then stormed in ninth on Leg 5 to Brockweir Bridge, Mixers’ Michael Visser 15th and Double’s Allan Aird 32nd.

A soggy Leg 6 to Wyndcliffe saw Team’s Daf Davies take ninth, Mixers’ Holly Janes-Thomas 23rd and Double’s Helen Shepherd 31st.

And Team’s Chris Baber was 14th in the final Leg 7 to Chepstow Bandstand, Mixers’ Louise Hartree 18th and Double’s Maixent Galliard 26th.

Fastest Ultra individual was Hereford Couriers’ Will Morris in 5.36.10 with fastest woman Molly Grace Waddington second overall in 5.51.26.
