A RISE in accidental garden fires has been highlighted by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
It was reported by the fire service that in the last two weeks they have seen a significant increase in accidental garden fires spreading to properties.
They have issued advice to prevent more of these happening in the future:
- Avoid lighting fires in prolonged hot weather
- Don’t light barbecues or fires near buildings, fences or sheds
- Never leave a fire or barbecue unattended
- Use safe methods to start the fire and never use accelerants like oil or petrol
- Dispose of household waste correctly.
