NATURAL Resources Wales (NRW) have been working hard alongside the emergency services to tackle the challenges that wildfires are bringing, including the one in Blaenavon.

In Blaenavon NRW have been carrying out intensive work to support the response which includes deploying long stretches of leaky hose lines to dampen ground and vegetarian beyond the fire edge to create new firebreaks, cutting back seven-foot-high bracken to reduce fuel for the fire and moving water browsers to supply for the fire service.

While aerial support can be valuable asset when available, wildfire response involves a wide range of specialist activities on the ground.

There is a significant amount of work taking place every day to help contain and control these incidents.

The contribution of their teams will continue over the coming days and after the fires have been brought under control.

Natural Resources Wales have urged if there is smoke coming from the wildfire affecting their area to stay indoors and close windows and doors and once the smoke has cleared and it is safe to do so to open windows and doors to improve air flow.
