A REVISED planning application for a care facility in Mitchel Troy has been submitted.

The new application is seeking permission to convert two barns near the village into a care home for 11 young people.

The area has been previously subject to some scrutiny from planners, after the Priory Group submitted two planning applications to convert the barns into a care home and school last year.

Last April, in two separate applications, the conversion of the barn known as Hazeldene into a care home for six young people was approved, but the conversion of Mona Hawk barn into a school for those six plus an additional 12 was turned down on the grounds of noise and disturbance on the local community, and traffic impact on the narrow country roads.

The new application seeks to instead convert both barns into residential care homes for young people, taking into account the Priory Group’s previous approved application.

The new application merges the two recent applications, and would not require the alteration of hedgerows as it is no longer proposed to use or widen the vehicular access from Common Road to the converted barn. Additionally, access between the two barns will be by footpath, with additional car parking to be installed.

The application also includes some minor external alterations to the barn.
