Monmouth Carnival committee has now released more details of the carnival which is due to take place on Chippenham Mead on Sunday, June 26.

As with last year, all events will take place on Chippenham. There will be a parade starting from Chippenhamgate Street at 1pm and proceeding across the park, ending in the central arena where judging and prizegiving will take place.

There are three categories of entries, large groups (five or more participants), small groups or individuals (four or fewer participants), and decorated wheeled vehicles (non motorised vehicle, except for mobility scooters).

First prize for each of the three groups will be £200, with best runners-up winning £100 each.

All entries are free but entrants will need to register either in advance through the website or on the day up until 12.30pm.

The registration form will be on the website (monmouthcarnival.co.uk) at the beginning of June.

The carnival committee is very excited about the entertainment they are able to offer for the afternoon, thanks to a generous grant from Monmouth Town Council.

There will be music from Sunshine Disco, Bristol Batala and Samba Galez and circus acts including exciting displays from Vulcan Fire Specialist and Laura Loops Bezerkas Circus.

There will also be a free circus skills workshop provided by Laura Loops available for all.

In addition to the entertainment there will be food stalls, a bouncy castle, children’s fairground rides and more.

There are still a limited number of pitches available for stalls so applications are invited from any small trader, community group or charity for a free stand on a first-come-first-served basis.

Interested people, businesses, or groups should email [email protected].

This year’s carnival event promises to be the best yet!
