PERFORM Chepstow returns once again, showcasing their performance of Sister Act next month.
The local theatre group will take to the stage at Wyedean School, Chepstow in February over a series of dates the community can attend.
Sister Act follows protagonist Deloris Van Cartier as she is placed in a convent, and she transforms a struggling choir into an unexpected musical sensation.
The theatre group have been praised for their viral videos and for being awarded Best Publicity at a Rose Bowl win for their Monty Python’s Spamalot campaign.
“We’re incredibly proud of what we achieved with Spamalot,” said Stephanie Dean, who leads the group’s marketing and publicity.
“Winning the Rose Bowl showed that community theatre can be creative, bold, relevant and we’re bringing that same energy into Sister Act.”
The group continues to strive, working tirelessly at a series of rehearsals, ready for their production of Sister Act.
The cast features local performers aged 18 to 40+ all of whom are balancing studies, work life and rehearsals to make it a night the audience won’t forget.
The production is being held on the following dates:
- Thursday February 19-7.30pm
- Friday February 20- 7.30pm
- Saturday February 21-2.30pm and 7.30pm
Perform Chepstow is an award-winning community theatre group serving South Wales and the Forest of Dean, building confidence and acting techniques throughout their performances.
The theatre group has received recognition from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) including Best Set Design and Production Support (2024) for Beauty and the Beast, alongside a Rose Bowl win for the Best Publicity for Monty Python’s Spamalot.
The group has also received Rose Bowl nominations for Creativity and Design for Costumes and Props and Best Choreography for Spamalot, as well as best actress in a Youth Production for Lucy Jenkins’ performance as Éponine in Les Misérables.
