Monmouth Rugby Club's Under 7 Warriors team travelled to Cwmbran for the first match of the season, which was also the first ever competitive rugby match for most of the young players.

The team were enthusiastic and excited about the prospect, having trained since the beginning of September. 16 boys took part which was a great turn out.

The first match saw a half-time score of four tries to one in Cwmbran;s favour with a final winning score for Cwmbran of eight tries to Monmouth's three.

The try scorers for Monmouth were George Coates (2) and Farley Flower-Davies.

Undeterred by this initial defeat, the Warriors whole heartedly entered into the second match, in which they played well and there was some excellent tagging.

The team managed to improve on the first match score with the match finishing Cwmbran three and Monmouth one. The try scorer for Monmouth in this match was Henry Trick-Eagles.

Overall, the team made a great effort in their first competitive match and are looking forward to the Monmouth Young Rugby Tournament on 6th October on Chippenham Fields
