A BEN Wiggins hat-trick helped fire Rockfield Rovers to a 5-2 win and the top of East Gwent 2 at home to Portskewett & Sudbrook on Saturday, in their first game of 2026.
Mark Johnston with his first goal for Rovers made it 1-0 up after 19 minutes before Wiggins doubled the lead just two minutes later.
The visitors hit back with goals (24, 36) either side of a 34th-minute Ryan O'Keefe strike for Rockfield, leaving it 3-2 at the break.
And two more goals from Wiggins after the break (70, 85) sealed victory and his hat-trick, which included a direct free-kick from outside the box.
It was also a high five for division rivals Tintern Abbey in a nine-goal 5-4 thriller away to Sudbrook CC 2nds, which included three goals in second-half stoppage time.
The hosts went 1-0 up in the first minute, but goals from Harry Francis (14) and Ollie Moss put Tintern 2-1 up at the break.
Gavin Stewart added a third with half an hour to play before Sudbrook hit back six minutes later.
Oly Adshead then restored Abbey's two-goal advantage 15 minutes from time before a mad four minutes deep in stoppage time saw Sudbrook pull one back, Geraint Reynolds make it 5-3 and the hosts score a fourth from a last-kick penalty, with Tintern's win leaving them third.
Elsewhere, Usk 2nds secured a 3-3 draw away to Sebastopol 2nds in Gwent Central 2 thanks to goals from Adam Glencross, Aled Burkitt with a penalty and Dan Jones.
