Due to the Autumn internationals, Monmouth RFC Youth entertained Berry Hill Youth team on the sports ground with an earlier kick-off.
The game was a closely contested match throughout all aspects of play. While the reverse fixture earlier in the season saw a comfortable win for Monmouth, they were well aware that this was not going to be an easy game.
Berry Hill had acquired an number of additional players and under the new coaching staff were always going to be a tough opposition.
Monmouth started the game strongly, building on the solid performance of the their pack led by captain Cameron Watson-Boycott.
A number of good runs from Dan White, Cameron Boycott and Aaron Mills saw Monmouth threaten the Berry Hill line a number of times in the first 20 minutes.
Following a break at pace Liam Musselbrook, in the centre, fed winger James 'Snowie' Davies, who cut inside to beat two players before finishing of a well worked move with some individual sparkle. Duly converted by Maximus Senior.
Berry Hill came back strong at Monmouth, using the strength and strong carrying of their pack.
Spurred on by their pack 'stepping up' the Berry Hill backs worked hard to break the Monmouth line.
This was met with some heavy-duty tackling from the Monmouth backs, one crunching tackle by Jake Williams reminded Berry Hill that Monmouth were as determined in defence as attack.
Following a long kick from Berry Hill, Liam Musselbrook broke the Berry Hill defence to score Monmouth's second try of the game, again converted by Senior.
At the final whistle the score remained 14-0 to Monmouth.
