South East Wales Cricket League Division One (Second XI) - Radyr Second XI (210-7) lost to Chepstow Second XI (282-4) by 72 runs

THE Watson brothers helped to keep Chepstow’s title hopes on the boil in this top-versus-bottom clash.

After winning the toss, Chepstow skipper Huw Rogers’ men batted first and put up a strong total of 282-4.

“Our opener Luke Watson set up the innings with 69 before his brother Zak weighed-in with a smooth 77,” Rogers said later.

“Big-hitting Will Durbin smashed 69 off 40 balls to put is in the ascendancy at tea,” the delighted captain added.

But his delight was spoiled by some poor work in the field as Radyr chased the total.

“With the pitch playing well the young Radyr side showed some heart and technique to get to 211-7, helped by some poor catching from us,” Rogers admitted.

“Still, it was a good win and 18 points. Luke Watson bowled with real pace to claim 1-24 and was ably supported by Tuhin Gavand’s leg spin, claiming 3-28.”
