MONMOUTH under nines made it three wins on the trot with a convincing 43-run victory away at Eastnor on Sunday.

The home side made a good start, but were pegged back by some tight bowling by Bea Jones and brothers Isaac and Oscar Evans. Eastnor lost wickets at regular intervals, with William Frost executing a brilliant run out. Good late spells from Monmouth’s bowlers restricted Eastnor to 277, a total that always looked within reach of Monmouth’s talented batting line up, especially on a lightening fast outfield.

A new-look opening partnership of Charlie Handley and Vena Rose Saunders gave Monmouth an excellent start, with 24 coming from the first four overs. Double figure scores came from captain Patrick Stubbs and Sophie Swingwood, who peppered the leg side boundary and put Monmouth on top, leaving William Wilton and sister Bella to complete the victory in style.

The win sees Monmouth move up to third in the table ahead of next week’s fixture away to second placed Wormelow.
