The trip enabled students to embark on a guided tour and two walks – supporting them with their coursework.
The Year 12 students were welcomed by volunteer guide Alun who gave students an insight into the history of the stadium and the build process. This included pupils being able to see the Presidents box and Royal seats.
Pupils were also able to visit the hospitality boxes as well as being able to meet old Monmothian Dan Gaunt giving students an insight on his career journey since Monmouth from joining the Accenture Graduate Scheme to becoming a Commercial Director at the Welsh Rugby Union.
Teacher of Business A-Level and Ctech Business, Holly Brookes, said: “The trip was beneficial because students are studying the Principality stadium as part of their OCR Cambridge Technical Level three in Business, Unit four titled ‘Customers and Communication.’ Students have to complete a detailed write up of the way the stadium manages its communication with a range of stakeholders.
“Students felt it was a valuable experience, giving them a different perspective on their own experiences as fans because it gave them a practical insight whilst building on important business theory.”
The tour continued through the stadium to the changing rooms were students were able to learn how the venue responds to performers requests. Students were also able to walk through the players’ tunnel.
To conclude the tour students participated in a question and answer activity which was led by Sion Modd from the Marketing and Communications department – helping students with their coursework and to encourage female participation.
Sion provided helpful advice including how to get marketing apprenticeships which they can use to kickstart their career.
