Organisers are pleased to announce that Monmouth’s Christmas Lantern Parade will be back and better than ever in 2021, reports Chris Were.
Following the amazing community support and turnout in previous years, preparations are well under way for this year’s event on Friday, December 3, entitled ’Christmas at the Box Office’.The event hopes to see adults and children alike make the annual parade up Monnow Street with their Christmas lanterns, led by the one-and-only Father Christmas.Parade organisers are encouraging the community to be as creative as possible like with lanterns themed around Christmas films, shows or pantomime, and to come along in fancy dress. This year hopes to be a real celebration of the community being able to come together again and provide an evening of entertainment for all the family. The evening will begin at Monnow Bridge, where everyone will gather with their lanterns at 6pm ready for the procession to begin at 6.30pm. Father Christmas will lead the parade up Monnow Street to Agincourt Square where there will be live music and entertainment. Father Christmas will meet the children and distribute plastic free treats. For more information or to get involved, get in touch either via the Facebook page ’Monmouth Christmas Lantern Parade’ or by emailing [email protected] Rotary Club will be collecting for TÅ· Hafan Children’s Hospice during the event.TÅ· Hafan is a Welsh registered charity that provides holistic palliative care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families from throughout Wales. A wide range of care and support is offered at the hospice, based in the Vale of Glamorgan in south Wales, in the community, at hospital or in schools.
