PT Pilates is taking on 24 hours of movement following the launch of a Reformerthon this September in aid of St David’s Hospice.
PT Pilates was founded by Jane Gambarini in 2021. The Beacon spoke to Jane earlier this year where she said one of the reasons she started a pilates business was down to a personal experience. In 2010 Jane was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, at the time juggling a one and two-year-old.
The Reformerthon is taking place on September 12 in their Usk Studio where they will be teaching 24 Reformer Pilates classes back-to-back over 24 hours. The aim is to bring together local businesses, sports clubs, instructors, trainees, clients and members of the wider community to raise funds and awareness for a local charity.
Jane’s passion for pilates all started when a friend of hers was taking a pilates exam and asked Jane to go along with her to see what it was like and since then she hasn’t looked back.
“It changed my life,” said Jane.
PT Pilates have worked in close relation to St David’s Hospice, with an aim of raising £5,000 and the response so far has been incredible with local businesses and people getting behind the challenge.
PT Pilates have submitted an application to Guinness World Records, which they hope will help shine an even bigger spotlight on both the fundraising effort and the work which is carried out by the hospice.
Founder of PT Pilates, Jane Gambarini, said: “For me personally, there’s also a story of resilience behind the challenge Following my Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis and a complete career change from corporate technology leadership into the wellness industry, PT Pilates has grown from a small studio into a thriving community business.
“Seeing that community now rally around a cause like this has been incredibly special.”
“The response to our Reformerthon has been beyond anything we imagined. We only launched the event last week, and we’ve already raised more than £2,000 towards our £5,000 target, which shows just how much our local community cares about supporting St David’s Hospice Care.
“As someone who has experienced first-hand how movement can transform lives, it’s incredibly meaningful to be bringing people together for a challenge like this. There will no doubt be moments during the 24 hours when we’re exhausted, but knowing that every class we teach will help support patients and families through some of their most difficult times will keep us going.
“We’re also incredibly excited to have submitted an application for a Guinness World Record attempt, which adds another layer of excitement and ambition to the event.
“More than anything, this is about community - bringing people together to move, support one another, and make a real difference locally.”
PT Pilates are keen to get as many local people involved in the challenge as possible. Whether it’s taking part in a class, sponsoring the event, donating prizes, supporting through fundraising or simply spreading the word.
