MONMOUTH Food bank has reported a rise in the number of older people feeling underrepresented among its clients, as demand continues to grow in the local area.
The food bank says many people are struggling is due to the rising cost of food, heating and everyday essentials, with some having to make the difficult choices between eating and paying bills.
Monmouth District Food bank is there to offer there support to those in need across the community.
“If you know any older neighbour, friend, relative or member of your community who may be finding things difficult, please let them know that Monmouth and District food bank is here to help,” said a spokesperson from the food bank.
The food bank is open at Monmouth Baptist Church on Friday mornings from 10am until 12pm. It can provide emergency food parcels, a warm and friendly welcome, free financial and mental health advice from Citizens advice and MIND and information about other local support services.
“Asking for help is a sign of strength, not failure. We would love to see you, please contact us or call in on Friday morning.
“Please get in touch or speak to someone you trust.”
Monmouth Food Bank is a voluntary organisation made up of 36 volunteers who are there to support those in critical times of need.
The Food Bank is committed to providing a crucial service to those living in Monmouth and the surrounding areas in crisis. It was started 30 years ago by Churches Together in Monmouth group with the support of the Trussell Trust, and has been running ever since. Overtime it has helped many people and continue to help as many residents as they can who are experiencing hardship.
