Monmouthshire County Council has confirmed a series of temporary road closures in early December to allow essential maintenance and utility works to proceed safely.
On Barecroft Common, Magor, the road will be closed on Thursday, December 4, between 8:30am and 3pm for vegetation clearance. The closure affects a 310-metre stretch approximately 155 metres west of its junction with Redwick Road. A signed diversion will operate via Redwick Road, Newport Road, and the A4810 Magor Interchange.
Further works are scheduled on Cae-Bach Road, Llandenny Walks, from December 8-10, between 8am and 5pm. The closure, required for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water works, will cover a short section from Ton Cottages Road for approximately 0.75 miles. Diversions will be in place via Ton Cottages Road, Usk Road, and Llandenny Road.
Meanwhile, Gethley Road, Parkhouse, has already closed from December 2 and will remain shut until December 5, between 9:30am and 3:30pm, for BT cabling works. The affected stretch runs for 1.45 kilometres from its junction with Parkhouse Road. Traffic will be diverted along routes including Llanishen to Tintern Cross and the B4293.
Incline Road, Redbrook, will be closed on November 28 for tree cutting. The closure is set to affect a 320-metre stretch about 0.6km from its junction with the A466. Diversions will be signposted via A466 Redbrook Road, A4136 Staunton Road, and connecting routes.
On St Brides Road, St Brides Netherwent, BT duct-laying works will require a closure from December 4 to December 9. The affected section runs approximately 160 metres from its junction with the A48. A diversion will operate via the A48 and Carrow Road. Access for residents will be maintained throughout.
Meanwhile, Lower Raglan Road, Llandenny, will close on December 5 between 9am and 5pm for poling works. The closure covers 130 metres from its junction with R71 Lower Raglan Road to Old Quarry Road. Drivers will be diverted via Llandenny Road, Cefn Tilla Road, and back to Lower Raglan Road.
Monmouthshire County Council stresses that these measures are necessary to ensure safety during the works. Signed diversion routes will be in place, and reasonable access will be maintained for properties along the affected roads. Motorists are urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys.
