Drivers and residents across Monmouthshire are advised to prepare for localised travel delays this October as Monmouthshire County Council issues a series of temporary traffic regulation orders under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Issued by Head of Neighbourhood Services Carl Touhig, the measures cover essential utility upgrades, infrastructure maintenance, film production, and safety work throughout the county.

In Magor, shoppers and visitors will encounter parking disruptions in the town center on October 7. Parking bays across The Square—including all disabled parking spaces stretching from Donnie’s Coffee Shop to the Post Office—will be temporarily suspended between 7am and 6pm to accommodate filming operations.

Meanwhile, National Grid works will necessitate a full road closure on the R135 Undy Road. The affected 140-meter stretch, situated approximately 0.65 km northeast of the Bencroft Lane junction, will remain closed from October 12 through October 16. A signed diversion will guide motorists via Silurian Road, Pankhurst Drive, B4245, Crick Road, A48, St Brides Road, and Carrow Road.

Telecommunication improvements are set to cause minor delays in surrounding rural areas. On October 8, Earlswood’s Bully Hole Road will close for a 55-meter section near the B4235 Usk Road junction between 8am and 5pm for poling work, diverting traffic through Little Coed Llifos. BT Fibre operations on October 9 will require a 350-meter closure on the R94 between Llanishen and Tintern Cross (near Gethley Road) from 09:30 to 15:30, with diversions routed along the B4293, Catbrook Road, and the A466. Further poling maintenance on October 13 will temporarily close a 215-meter section of the R90 Hoop Road to Pilstone House in Whitebrook between 8am and 5pm. Looking ahead, the council intends to close a 180-meter stretch of Tre-herbert Road in Llandegveth at the Nantsor Road junction on October 20 between 10am and 5pm for similar poling works.

Forestry maintenance is also scheduled near Llandogo. Bargain Wood Road will close to through-traffic east of its Trellech Road junction for approximately 1.35 km between October 12 and October 16. The daily closures, running from 09:00 to 17:00, are required for tree safety operations. Drivers will be diverted via Trellech Road, the A466, Llandogo Road, and Craig-Las Road.
