A series of temporary road closures will be introduced across Monmouthshire later this month to allow utility and telecommunications works to be carried out safely.

Monmouthshire County Council has issued several Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders affecting roads in The Hendre, Rockfield, Penallt, Usk, Raglan, Penterry and Llancayo. The closures are required either for poling works or Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water operations and will include signed diversion routes.

The first closure will affect the B4233 at The Hendre on Wednesday, September 23. The road will be closed for a 255-metre section around 3.3km west of its junction with the B4347, with works scheduled between 8am and 5pm. A diversion will direct motorists via the B4233, B4347, B4521, A465 and A40.

On Thursday, September 24, several closures are planned. Birches Road in Penallt will shut between Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25 for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water works.

The affected section extends for approximately 465 metres around 360 metres from its junction with Glyn Road. Traffic will be diverted via Glyn Road, Brook Road and Penygarn Road.

The same day, a section of the C215.12 road from Monmouth Road to New Barn Farm in Usk will close between 10am and 5pm for poling works. The closure will affect a 65-metre section around 425 metres from the Monmouth Road junction.

A diversion will operate via Monmouth Road, Ty Freeman Road and the C215.12 route from New Barn Farm to Ty Freeman Road.

Llancayo Road in Llancayo will also be closed on Thursday, September 24, between 10am and 5pm. The closure will cover approximately 100 metres of road around 135 metres from the B4598 junction. Diversions will follow the B4598, A472 Castle Parade, Monmouth Road and Pant Y Rheos Road.

Further restrictions are scheduled for Monday, September 28. A section of the B4347 at Rockfield will be closed from 8am to 5pm for poling works, affecting around 850 metres of carriageway located 0.8km from its junction with the B4233. Diversions will operate via the B4233, A40, A465 and B4521.

Castle Road in Raglan will be closed from Monday, September 28 until Wednesday, September 30 for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water works, affecting the first 75 metres from its junction with Monmouth Road. Meanwhile, Greenwood Road in Penterry will be closed between 10am and 5pm on Monday, September 28, for poling works affecting a 75-metre section east of The Cot.
