Bettws could have stunned Monmouth with their shock long-distance try in the first minute of last Saturday's (1st October) game, but captain Matt Ricketts steadied the ship with a few calming words behind the posts.

Bettws had good strike runners who were a constant threat but a steadied effective defence kept them out with the Monmouth pack providing the solid framework and a liveliness in the back row for centre Dewi Lane to break upfield.

Several others carried the move on deep into Bettws territory, rounded off by scrum-half Ludo Thomas scoring the first of what was to become a personal tally of four tries, and with fly-half Rhys Ricketts comfortably converting as his starter for a personal contribution of 20 points in an overall bonanza win of 60-12.
