PC Dai Arnold is the new Crime and Disorder Officer at Monmouth, succeeding PC Neil Crabtree who has been appointed Divisional Crime Prevention Officer at Pontypool.

"I am hoping to build on the platform that Neil has already established in Monmouth," said PC Arnold. "My duties will include liaising with Neighbourhood Watch, and I'm particularly eager to set up new Watches". Anyone interested in setting up new Watches is welcome to go to PC Arnold for help and advice.

PC Arnold has completed 151/2 years in the police force - at Pontypool, Monmouth and latterly at Raglan, where he was stationed for nine years. During that time he built up a close relationship with Raglan Community Council and local residents.

PC Arnold, 43, said he was hoping to build on the success of the Pub Watch and Shop Alert schemes.

Crime-wise, he was particularly concerned at the recent spate of thefts from unattended vehicles and shed thefts.

"A lot of my work will depend on the support of the community and businesses and I look forward to working with all of them."
