MONMOUTH marked Armistice Day today, with services taking place alongside a nationwide two minute silence.

At Monmouth Castle members of Royal Monmouth Engineers joined with councillors, guests and members of the public to mark the occasion with a short service of remembrance.

Pupils from Monmouth School and HMSG paid their respects at a joint service held at the war memorial at Monmouth School.

The act of Remembrance was marked by the laying of poppy wreaths by the head boy and head girl, and former pupils who served in armed conflicts around the world.

After the service, the wreath laid on behalf of HMSG will be taken to be laid at the memorial to the women who have fallen in war at HMSG.
