AT MONMOUTH mayor’s civic service last month, well-known Monmouth man John Blake was presented with a medal to mark his 50 years as mace bearer to Monmouth Town Council.

Councillor Chris Munslow paid tribute to John and said: “As mayor I was very privileged to make the presentation, to someone that has achieved such an outstanding and committed service.”

A presentation was also made to Mike Brown on his retirement following his eight years as macebearer.
