MONMOUTH showed once again that bad weather would not bring it down as local people gathered to light up Monnow Street at the annual lantern parade last Friday.

Families, friends and local people lit up the streets as they took part in this year’s parade which had the theme of the ‘Butterfly Ball and the Grasshoppers Feast’. There were many butterflies, dragonflies and so many more creations which lit up the rainy streets in a symbol of resilience after the devastating flooding.

After the parade there was entertainment at the Shire Hall which continued for the rest of the evening. The community spirit was undeniable with locally people rallying around to create an evening of festive fun at a time where it was needed most.
