TRELLECH Primary School has been praised by Estyn in a recent report.

The inspection team visited the school in April and concluded the school was 'good' in all aspects and has 'good' prospects for improvement.

The report highlights the ethos and achievements of the school and confirms the high quality of education the pupils receive. Many areas of the school were praised, in particular the welcoming ethos and environment; the high standards and expectations both of behaviour and attainment; the quality and creativity of teaching and learning; the thorough and regular tracking of pupils progress and the effective and regular monitoring and evaluation of teaching, planning and performance management.

The report said: "The school provides a caring welcoming environment and places a strong emphasis on the wellbeing of its pupils.

"Teachers know pupils well and provide helpful and supportive guidance for them.

"There is a strong climate of mutual respect and courtesy.

"Without exception, teachers have high expectations of pupils' behaviour and attainment and the quality of work produced reflects this.

"The head teacher provides strong leadership and communicates high expectations to pupils and staff. She has, in collaboration with staff, a clear, purposeful vision and set of values for the school".

Head teacher Karen Christofi said: "We are delighted with the outcome of our inspections and feel that the reports reflect the hard work and commitment of staff, pupils, parents and governors."
