MONMOUTH residents donned their running shoes, whipped out their armbands and jumped on their bikes in a bid to raise money for Sport Relief last week.

Schools and businesses in Monmouth clubbed together to rally behind the cause from Friday (21st March) to Sunday (23rd March).

Money donated to Sport Relief goes to help people in the UK and abroad.

In the UK money donated goes to people living on the streets and provides protection for those suffering with domestic abuse.

Across the world money donated enables children to gain an education, provide communities with fresh water and vaccines. To donate visit http://www.sportrelief">www.sportrelief

Trellech Primary School and Busy Bodies Playgroup staff and children (pictured left) ran a sponsored mile in aid of Sport Relief.

As part of a maths lesson the previous week, some of the year 5 and 6 children had measured-out the course to the last foot, four times round the field and school, then twice round the Junior Yard.

With everyone dressed as their favourite sporting hero, Johnny Dunkley was the fastest boy with Alex Wakerley and Henry Rawlins close behind him, Rebecca Ward came in seventh place as the fastest girl.

HEADTEACHER of Usk Primary School, Jarad Nolan, cycled 100 miles for Sport Relief last Friday (21st March), leaving the school in the morning and travelling as far as Caerleon and Pontypool.

The school's children monitored Mr Nolan's progress via Garmin satellite tracking and so far he has raised £812 of his £1000 target. Visit my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/MrN
