A great time was had by one and all when many aspects of St James Community Hall all came together to celebrate this epic birthday.

The hall was packed with stalls showcasing Wyesham. A jolly atmosphere was created by Mr Hoyle playing the piano.

The special guests were the people who went to school in the hall. Before the hall was a community facility it was the girls school in Wyesham. The boys having to walk down over the bridge into Monmouth. Everyone who attended the school were invited to celebrate with a delicious fruit cake ably cut by the Deputy Mayor of Monmouth Councillor Evans and Mrs Rowlands. While all attending in the hall gave a superb rendition of “Happy Birthday”. Monmouth Museum expertly produced an information board about Wyesham and the schools. This proved to be very popular.

A competition to design a logo for the hall proved to be very successful with over 50 entries. Well done to all that took part.

Stalls from Wyesham Christian Fellowship, Wyesham WI, Pilates and gentle exercise, Wyedean Embroiders, Wyesham Craft Group, St James Church, The Seniors, The Wyesham Art Group for children and the St James Hall all showing what Wyesham has to offer. Each table had a fun activity for children all proved to be great fun.

All of this was washed down with lashings of tea and cakes. Many thanks to all the local businesses who donated to raffle and to the tombola stall. It has been suggested that we now celebrate the 151st Birthday next year! Maybe a similar event.
