M&S has reassured customers that their personal data has not been sold following a data breach at the end of April.

The Monmouth store was therefore unable to process card payments.

The personal details could include date of birth and online order history but does not include card or payment details and no account passwords.

M&S have advised their customers if they have received any emails from the retailer that they will never contact and ask to the customer to provide personal account information.

They have now contacted experts in cyber security and continue to investigate the issue.

The supermarket has stopped taking orders online on the website and app for the time being until the incident has been resolved.
