Plans for the repair and restoration of the Inglis Bridge have been slow, but County Councillor Jane Lucas has revealed that the work may involve lifting the entire bridge and placing it on Vauxhall Field!

The bridge is currently closed to pedestrians due to safety concerns identified by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in September 2024. However, the MOD secured £1 million in funding in March 2025 for the necessary repairs and refurbishment of the Grade II listed bridge,

The proposed work would allow repairs to the supporting structure of the bridge so that the vital crossing between Osbaston and Vauxhall can be re-opened to pedestrians and cyclists.

This plan has to be accepted by environment watchdog NRW.
