A CAR caught fire after leaving the roadway and crashing though a hedge opposite Norton Court farm Skenfrith on Sunday morning, 15th May.

The fire was reported by local farmer Ben Williams who heard the noise just after 2am. The vehicle had been travelling from the Grosmont direction when it crashed through the hedge and ending up in Mr Williams’ field.

The vehicle was empty when police officers arrived at the scene.

A police helicopter was called out to look for the occupants, believed to be three men from the Cardiff area.

Monmouth fire crews crews attended using a hosereel jet and breathing apparatus.
