AS part of a Monmouthshire Sports Development (MSD) project, 12 young volunteers took place in a UK Sports Leaders Level 2 training programme.
Aged between 14-19, the programme ran through half-term and saw those involved take part in a range of different skill-based leadership lessons.
The volunteers completed practical and theory elements of the course, such as "effective communication", "developing and running a sport session" and "how to make activities inclusive" to gain the Level 2 qualification.
The course was run by Geraint Roberts and Laura James from MSD, with special guests Ieuan Coombes and Gavin England, who regularly deliver inclusive and disability sports sessions in the schools and communities across the county.
Ieuan, who made the shortlist for the Wales Sport Awards Young Volunteer of the Year 2014, is currently studying a sports degree and has been helping MSD since he volunteered as a 17 year old.
He said: "The inclusion training we delivered is massively important as the participants are our future workforce.
"They are key to developing the mind-set of making sessions inclusive through adapting activities to ensure people are more active more often to push forward the legacy of London 2012 and other major sporting events."
The week ended with a day of the leaders tutoring those in Monmouth Sport 4 Life's leadership workshop, for those aged 10-13, passing on lessons they had learnt the previous few days.
To complete the course, the young leaders will deliver 10 hours of coaching within the community and at schools.
