WYESHAM Wanderers FC Redside have won the North Gloucestershire League's Division 3 – the clubs first trophy since 1963.

The Wyesham club is the only side from Monmouth to play in the English divisions and the Division 3 title comes after competing in the leagues for only four seasons.

Redside dominated the division and were undefeated since October last year and reached the semi-finals of the County Cup – going out to a controversial penalty decision.

Manager David Cox said: "We scored 111 goals and scored in every game we played.

"We had the leagues top three scorers – Liam Radnor 23, Chris Tyler 23 and Sam Newton, who broke our top scorer record with an unbelievable 43 goals."

At the club's end of season awards night, Chris Tyler picked up the goal of the season prize for a thunderous 40 yard volley against Ranks.

Alan Powell was awarded the players' player of the season award and top-scorer Sam Newton took the player of the season prize.

The club are looking for new sponsors for next season. Anyone interested, or looking at joining the club, should contact David Cox on 07787 776319 or find the club's Facebook page.
