A century by Sam Morris helped Usk Cricket Club beat Chepstow by 83 runs in the Glamorgan & Monmouthshire League Division One last Saturday (23rd August). The opener struck 189, helping the home side make 315-4 from their 50 overs after they had won the toss and elected to bat. Fellow opener George Lewis hit 50, Henry Lewis 16 and Oliver James an unbeaten 48 for Usk. Tudor Morgan-Hugget took 2-69 for Chepstow with David Monk and Malith Madurasinghe taking the other wickets to fallm and wicketkeeper Gareth Ansell taking three catches. In reply, David Teague hit 127 and David Bennet 48 but Chepstow didn't really threaten Usk's total. Tom Robinson was the chief tormentor with the ball, picking up 5-41 from his 10 overs. James Colthard and Jason Cook also picked up wickets. Usk wicketkeeper Iain Clayton matched his opposite number by pouching three chances, while there was a catch for Gabriel Warwick.
