Undy AFC travelled to Barry for Welsh Cup day at Jenner Park, a week later than scheduled after a waterlogged ground but with the pitch now in excellent condition.

Gareth Heywood and Ben Roberts were available but Andrew Larcombe (holiday) and James Barnes were unavailable.

Undy started very brightly and on 15 minutes, good work out wide from Cullimore and a smart pass into the path of Mike Jones saw the big striker score with a strike from 12 yards.

Just three minutes later a decision that almost definately had a bearing on the outcome occured as Cullimore burst free past his marker and was dragged down on the edge of the box.

The Barry defender seemed lucky to only be given a yellow card.

On 20 minutes, Barry were level when after a clearance from a free kick, the ball was struck through at least five players in the box and into the net.

Within two minutes Undy were back in front, a ball from Hooper found Jones and his neat finish from 10 yards nestled into the bottom left corner of the net.

On 35 minutes it was all square again, a ball from a corner wasn't dealt with by keeper Smallcombe and a header was then looped back over his head and into the net.

The home side were second best in the first half but controlled a lot of the second period and were ahead on 77 minutes and the goal celebration that followed probably justified a goal.

Smith replaced Thompson, Stevens replaced Phillips and Jarman came on for Roberts as Undy gambled on saving the tie and that's exactly what they did on 88 minutes when a ball dropped in the box and Jarman took a touch and smashed a rocket into the top corner to send the game into extra-time.

The extra-time period was an open affair with both sides breaking at will and  with the final period in play it looked like it may be heading for the dreaded penalty shoot out before a superb cross from out wide was met with as good a header that went in off the far post to win the tie 4-3 for Barry.

A great attitude was shown and some decent football played but Barry just about deserved their victory.

Undy now face a run of four home league games starting this weekend with Dinas Powys.
