Another big win has taken Monmouth Town Under 12s through to the Semi Final of the East Gwent Cup.

The nine-one win over Chepstow last Sunday (19th February) was a great team effort, one of those games where everyone did their job well.

The first half was hard work, with a pitch resembling a ploughed field, it was hard to string passes together, so the long ball from both sides saw little good football for the first 20 minutes.

Monmouth then started to dominate the game and the goals came from a hat-trick by Joe Pemberton, who pushed his way around a physical Chepstow defence, who pushed up high catching Monmouth offside too many times.

In reply, a late goal by Chepstow saw the score at three-one at half time and potentially a comeback looked possible.

The midfield was strengthened and the game plan was to score at least two goals early from the start of the second half.

Amazingly this happened with breakaway goals from Tamer Pullen and Sam Vaughan.

The game was over for Chepstow and the boys took control, firing in at will with further goals from Tom Walker and Lewis Davies, Sam Vaughan and another from Joe P.

The game was down to the captain's performance of Henry Williams, who worked tirelessly throughout the whole game, right back Ted Heyres and 'keeper Charlie Cooke, who dealt with brief periods of fight back by Chepstow.

The team's next game is at home on Sunday 26th February against Undy.
