MONMOUTH Tri Club’s Jak Smith continued his winning streak with a speedy dash across Coniston Water in the Lake District at the weekend.

Taking part in the Epic Events Lake Swim Coniston, Jak smashed through his 5km swim in 1 hour 12 minutes to take first place, coming home more than two minutes in front of fellow competitors.

Much further south, Simon Woods completed the Midnight Mountain Marathon in Brecon, which kicked-off at 5.30pm in Talybont-on-Usk.

Competitors then ran through into the night on a course which winds through woods, streams and ascends Pen y Fan.

Battling through 6000ft of elevation, Simon came home in an impressive 5 hours 36 minutes.

Back across the border, Andy Washbrook took on the sprint triathlon in the Hereford Multisport Festival, which involved a 400m pool swim, 23km bike ride and 5km run, sprinting home in a remarkable 1 hour 9 minutes to place 12th overall and fourth in his age category.

On the same day, new club member Steve Kilbourne competed in another pool-based event in the Leominster Sprint Triathlon, racing back in 1.31.57.
