The weekend of 12th to 14th July saw the Tae Kwon Do International hold its 10th Open World Championships in Coventry.

Hosted by the Tae Kwon Do Association of Great Britain, this prestigious event had over 3,000 entrants from 27 countries competing in a number of disciplines over a three-day period.

Students Oliver and Joseph Park, who train at Monmouth with instructor Tony Farr, fought well both individually and in teams and earned themselves bronze medals.

Paula Manley, also of the Monmouth Club, took a bronze in executive heavyweight women's sparring.

Zoe Manley fought hard to get through to the third round, but competition was tough with 58 competitors in her category.

Instructor Tony Farr fought hard in the men's destruction to reach the final round. It was close, with both men breaking, but Tony came runner-up, losing first place on weight.

The weekend was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all those attending.
