DAVID Teague struck an unbeaten 70 in Monmouth Cricket Club's emphatic six-wicket revenge triumph over Lisvane.

The former Newport all-rounder also bagged three wickets as third-placed Monmouth picked up a maximum 20-point haul in the Thomas, Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League Division Three.

Lisvane are the only side to defeat Paul Swingwood's men so far this season and it was sweet revenge for Monmouth at a sun-kissed Sports Ground last Saturday (21st July).

Lisvane slumped to 30 for four and were eventually dismissed for just 137 on an excellent batting track.

Jonathan Roberts (two for 29), Andy Bowley (one for 29) and a smart run out from Tom Vickers caused problems for the visitors early on.

Muhammad Salman (46) led the counter attack with help from Rhys Jones (21) before the Monmouth spinners took control once again.

Jonathan Jones returned two for six from five overs and then Teague chipped in with three victims as Lisvane's batting crumbled.

In reply, Monmouth, sponsored by JD Wetherspoon, slipped to 43 for four after an impressive opening burst from Salman (four for 37).

However, former Glamorgan Seconds player Teague combined with Swingwood (35 not out) to drive Monmouth to victory with 13.4 overs left.

Teague picked up the Ancre Hill Vineyard man-of-the-match award, while president John Wigmore and life-member David Williams sponsored the balls.

Monmouth travel to struggling Upper Rhondda this Saturday and will be looking to complete a league double.
