Lidl has renewed its sponsorship of Monmouth RFC for the next three seasons.

The supermarket has sponsored the club for the past five years with its logo displayed on the front of the First XV rugby shirts.

Monmouth RFC players and employees of Lidl will be working together over the course of the next three years in order to raise money for charity and increase awareness of those chosen charities.

Lidl's sponsorship of the club will allow Monmouth the financial stability required for its future plans.

Lloyd Davies, chairman of Monmouth RFC, said: "We are delighted that Lidl has decided to sponsor the club over the course of the next three seasons.

"We would not have been able to make the progress that we have over the course of the past five years without the financial support that sponsors such as Lidl have provided us with.

"As we enter our 140th season, the new three-year deal with Lidl gives us the financial security to invest once again in the club, its facilities and coaching infrastructure so that we can take the club forward into the future.

"I'd like to say a special thank you to Paul and his team for their continued support."

Paul Hebblethwaite of Lidl said: "We are very pleased to be able to once again renew our sponsorship of Monmouth RFC.

"They have made significant progress over the course of the last five years as a community-based club. They now have 13 teams from ages under six through to the First XV.

"Their coaching structure and first aid facilities are first class and we are delighted to have been able to assist in underlying the structure of the club with financial support.

"We wish all teams at Monmouth RFC every success for the coming season."
