THE Kymin Dash is back for yet another year of community fun and this year supporting a local cause which is close to the Monmouth community.
Spirit of Monmouth running club who organise the Kymin Dash are bringing it back on April 12, and this year they are running in aid of the Bridges Flood Appeal Charity. This is to help raise funds after the centre were swept under by Storm Claudia last November.
So far Bridges Flood Appeal has raised over £7,000 with a target of £10,000.
The flooding caused significant damage across the entire ground floor and reached height in many areas of the centre. Work from contractors and specialists has been underway and the contribution from the community has been undeniable over the last several months.
The centre aims to partially reopen in Autumn 2026, with a full opening planned for Spring 2027. The centre is a focal point for the Monmouth community serving as a local hub which provides a variety of wellbeing services and served as a meeting point for community groups.
This years dash is being supported by a range of sponsors, including Ludus Gym, Waitrose, Blestium Financial Services, Haberdashers’ Monmouth School and The Bloom Room.
The Kymin Dash is a seven mile race which is straight up to the top of the Kymin overlooking the picturesque landscape of Monmouth and surrounding areas and follows back around to complete a loop of the Wye Valley. Prizes are awarded for the ‘King and ‘Queen’ of the hill who are first to the top as well as finishing places.
There are still spaces available to participate in this year’s Kymin Dash. Entries closed on April 10 but there is an opportunity to to enter on the day which will be cash only.
