A YOUNG aspiring golfer just came back from playing in the Daily Mail World Championships – competing against the best golfers across the world.

Taio- Blake Burkitt competed in the Daily Mail Championships at the Villa Padierna golf club from February 25- 27 where he was able to showcase his golf talent in a competitive field.

The Daily Mail World Championships is a prestigious annual international tournament for young golfers. It brings together around 250 elite young golf players aged seven to 18, where they can compete against numerous levels from major, high-level, and three-day showcase.

The event is split into age categories from boys and girls from ages as young as seven and below playing at the event.

“Watching Taio play fills us with so much pride, seeing all the hard work and dedication pay off and knowing he’s out there doing what he loves means everything to us,” said Taio’s mum, Emma Burkitt.

Taio led the way on day one and two and came fourth place out of 33 golfers.

He competed in the US kids Marco Simone Invitational on March 14 and 15 at the same venue where they hosted the Ryder cup in 2023.

According to Emma, round one didn’t go as planned for Taio but he managed to stay near the top in 2nd place just three shots behind the header.

“He went out at round two playing like himself again, shooting a –4 with seven birdies,” said Taio’s mum, Emma.

Taio is competing in the US Kids European Championship in Scotland this May as well as the US Kids Irish Open on July 1st and 2nd.

These events recognise young golf talent from all around the world, highlighting the hard work and determination it takes to take part in such prestigious events like these.
