Penallt Tennis Club held their tournament for the men's and ladies' singles and for the mixed competition over the Bank Holiday weekend.

For once the weather was perfect, both for the players and for the spectators.

As usual there were a number of closely contested matches and three-set marathons.

In the mixed, Adam Clarke and Jutta Hadfield had a lengthy match against Neil and Alison O'Doherty, finally winning in three sets.

Likewise, Sue and Martin Dean had a long battle against Chris Jones and Liz Clarke, and managed to win the third set.

The two mixed semi-finals both provided the spectators with excellent tennis and were both very closely contested and lengthy.

In the other semi-final Nigel and Jane Bryan played Steph Howell and Alex Jones, and managed to win the third set 6-4

The final was in its third set when Nigel and Jane conceded due to an injury so Dave and Arianna took the trophy.

In the plate competition for first round losers, the final was between Chris and Rosie Adams, and Chris Jones and Liz Clarke, with Chris and Rosie managing to win a keenly fought match.

Arianna played a huge amount of excellent tennis over the weekend as she also won the ladies singles, beating Nicky Hutchings in the final.
