SPIRIT of Monmouth running club has held a "Couch to 5k" programme, providing a training course for those new to running.
The 10-week course, which started in January, provided weekly sessions geared at helping the new runners gradually build up to run 5 kilometres.
Having followed their training programme, running three times a week, course members marked their achievement by taking part in the Newport Parkrun on Saturday 29th March.
At the end of the 5k timed event, the group were presented with medals for achieving their goal by course leader Diane Smith.
