Monmouth Under 10s entertained Caldicot last Sunday (11th November) and won with a combination of strong forward play and good direct running with the ball.

Caldicot had seven players for the 10-a side game, so four Monmouth lads were selected to swap sides for each half.

All the Monmouth players played well, irrespective of the shirt they were wearing, overcoming the visitors by seven tries to one.

It became more and more difficult to tell which side was which as the conditions were very muddy. Ollie Scrivens got two tries with some fantastic runs. Adam Davies scored from the wing, and Lewis Richards also touched down.

Ben Williams tacked, rucked and supported well, scoring first for Monmouth, and then, in the second half, scoring Caldicot's only try.

His performance earned him the weekly man of the match award, much to his mum Maria's delight.

Other notable performances came from Rob Nixon and  Angus Whitehead providing strong defence in the second row as well as scoring a try each.

Having won three in a row now, the Monmouth lads have training this Sunday to work on committing only one player to the ruck and giving themselves more space to pass the ball out wide.
