Jason Morgan and Jack Walby signed off a successful end of year together with a fine third overall, 1st in class on last weekend's S&A Gas Premier Stages,in the Winner Garage Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6.
The event offered a very compact route of 33 stage miles contained in just six stages in the Clipstone forestry complex in Nottinghamshire with no road miles for the capacity entry.
The duo got off to a good start setting third quickest times on the opening two tests, but a broken shaft on the third stage saw them drop over 20 seconds, but they still held on to third by one second from Jason's dad Bob. Further time was lost on stage four when they ran wide at a hairpin, but the final two tests went without a hitch for the duo to finish third overall and take the class win.
For dad Bob with Adie Williams on board they endured a fraught day as they were looking to put more miles on the new Winner Garage Skoda Fabia S2000 Evo, a first corner overshoot was followed by the loss of brake fluid, but they still held a strong fourth place, this was then followed by a wheel alignment issue and finally a broken subframe put pay to their day on stage four while still in fourth place.
"We've endured a difficult day,but that's why we are here to iron out any problems, but that said we were still fourth overall, and spectators were coming up to us, saying how much they enjoy watching the car, it's something a bit different, so there is plenty more to come yet from the car," said Williams.
