A terrific late fight back from two goals down saw Monmouth Town claim all three points in a cracking game at the Sports Ground last week and sent them second in the Welsh League First Division table.
Penybont arrived a newly formed club from a merger between former winners Bryntrion and Bridgend Town, and have been hotly tipped for honours this season.
For the first half they looked every bit the better side, pressing high and not letting Town settle in any way. Town's response was to play a longer game – literally and metaphorically – but in so doing invited pressure as Penybont looked to dominate set pieces and had the livelier of the forwards.
Aaron Davies was restored to the team and in his 17th season at the club was having a good game but conceded a penalty, handling after a nudge from a corner.
Just before the half was out, Town were 1-0 down.
In between receiving treatment for a head wound and another characteristic clash, Davies was also in the mix as Blackburn's short goal kick caught him out and on 65 minutes Town were 2-0 down and there looked no way back.
Blackburn in fairness had kept the Kingfishers in the game with a series of fine stops and interceptions justifying his man-of-the-match award.
Manager Steve Jenkins must have been a worried man at 2-0 but his quick changes spurred Town on the offensive and a hand ball and an assault on Nick Harrhy earned two penalties, converted by MacDonald, and put Town in the driving seat.
To cap a crazy 10 minutes Nick Harrhy was put through and his finish stole the points and set up a first versus second scrap on Saturday as Town travel to Haverfordwest.
Jenkins was pleased with the result but less than happy about the first 70 minutes.
"We're still not forcing the pace of games and we only came alive at two down," he said.
"If we can get teams early on and play at pace that we can play then we wouldn't have to put up with nail biting finishes. The supporters must love them. I don't."
This Saturday, Town make the three-hour trip to Haverfordwest looking to top the table.
