A new record was set at the challenging Kymin Dash race held on Sunday 27th April. 218 runners, double that of last year, completed the seven mile race which took them to the top of the Kymin and back. Last year's time of 44mins set by Luke James was smashed by young Felix Mcgrath by over three minutes, who had set a lead over second placed Sean Tayloy by over two minutes. First woman back was Spirit of Monmouth Running Club member, Frances Bullock who completed in 51mins 42secs and was 39th runner back. The Spirit of Monmouth Running Club, who organise the event, thanked the sponsors, Monmouth School Sports Club, Robert Price and Mountain Fuel. The race supported The Gwent Appeal of ABF, The Soldiers Charity, and the donation made will be matched by Barclays Bank. First three men back were; 1st, Felix Mcgrath of the Westbury Harriers, 40m 59s; 2nd, Sean Taylor, Mynydd Ddu, 43m 5s; 3rd, Huw Evans, Les Croupiers Running Club 43m 28s. The first three women back were; 39th; Frances Bullock, Spirit of Monmouth, 51m 42s; 45th, Lou Summers, Pontypool, 52m 11s; 61st Sally Howard, Witney Road Runners, 54m 61s.
