Two goals from birthday boy Nick Harrhy in the first 10 minutes were enough to clinch an entertaining game at the Sports Ground last Saturday (14th September), although a late consolation added a bit more tension than was absolutely necessary.

The Kingfishers, sponsored by Wyemedia, started brightly and Harrhy's cool finish after just four minutes put them ahead.

His headed goal, just nine minutes in, set the scene for a possible rout but the Buds, with ex-Cardiff City player John Lewis in the dugout, regrouped and defended more stoutly for the remainder of the half and although not quite fashioning clear cut opportunities at least made a game if it.

The second half was another relatively even affair but Town were playing within themselves and looking a little more comfortable than last week's drab defeat to second division Ely Rangers.

Davies at right back was putting in a man-of-the-match performance, Laurie looked more like his usual self and Cleaves improved second half display were highlights.

Town may have had cause to rue missed chances by Clare, MacDonald and Alderdice as Antonazzi pulled a goal back for the visitors and set up a needlessly tense final quarter of an hour but the home side held on to claim their third win of the season and move up to fifth in the Welsh League Division One table.

Manger Steve Jenkins was a happier man this week than last.

"We still made hard work of it and I wanted to see us really kill the game off but we slowed the pace and relaxed too much and let them back in," he said.

"The performance was better but we still need to develop that killer instinct and be more ruthless."

Town are away this Saturday at Aberdare Town. Match day food was supplied by Raduni Restaurant, match ball by Kit Manager and the match was sponsored by Betway.
