A superb bowling performance helped take Monmouth to a nine-wicket win over Pencoed last Saturday (3rd August).
The visitors to the Sports Ground were skittled for just 96 in 37.5 overs in the Thomas Carroll Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League Division Three match.
Charles Griffin was the star of the show, taking the wickets of Pencoed's top four batsmen and conceding only 24 runs from his 10 overs.
Paul Swingwood was very economical and finished with 2-2 from six overs, including two maidens.
Alim Hansraj and Jonathan Jones both finished with figures of 1-6 and there was a wicket apiece for Richard Shaw and Matt Lovett.
David Croudace, Ben Turner and Wayne Etheridge all took catches.
Richard Gregory top-scored for Pencoed with 36, with the only real support coming from Matthew John (11) and Alistair Whitehouse (9 not out).
In reply, Matthew Jones scored 11 and it was left to Etheridge (38 not out) and Josh Grey (44 not out) to see Monmouth to 97-1 in just 14.5 overs.
Pencoed's James Smith took the only home wicket to fall.
Monmouth, who thanked Trevor Slocombe for scoring, take on table-topping Pontymister this Saturday (10th August).
